Out On The Town

I went out to a real restaurant last night for the first still since starting my diet. It was sort of like going to a nudie bar. There was a lot of stuff on the menu but I couldn’t touch any of it.
I’m in “Phase 1″ of the South Beach Diet which means I’m pretty much doing Atkins. Well, okay, I get to eat kidney beans but other than that it seems like the same thing.
I can have lean meat, green vegetables and water. Lots of water. Mmmm… water.
So I opted for blackened salmon and a side salad without dressing. No rice, no rolls, no fun.
The meal was good but I would have preferred the lobster in butter sauce or even the chicken parmesan at this point. I also would have preferred a few beers and a huge chocolate cake for desert. So I figure I saved myself a few thousand calories and a few brain cells.
I just have to keep telling myself that “I love healthy food, I love healthy food, I love healthy food”…
Sigh.
I really love pizza and beer.

YM, are you doing South Beach too?
I love tacos but I can’t have the tortillas, rice or probably the beans… and of course the Corona and lime.

Going out to eat is the worst part of dieting… I can do just fine as long as I am at home… but when we have to go out to restaurants - or worse yet, receptions with lots of yummy free food… ARGH!
I am going to be spending 3 weeks away this summer… no idea how I’m going to manage the food thing.
