I’m Stuck

I’m stuck. I’m stuck on 246 and I’ve been there for three days. I’ve eaten more and I’ve eaten less but there’s nothing I can do. The scale doesn’t budge.
Sure, I’m down eight pounds in ten days but it’s frustrating not being down ten pounds in ten days. I was losing a pound a day until two days ago. I feel like I’m heading down an upwardly moving escalator.
Granted, according to the South Beach Diet book, Phase 1 isn’t designed for rapid weight loss — riiiggghhhttt — but to learn to eat properly and to break food addictions.
So far so good, I suppose. I’m not craving pizza, Big Macs or beer. Hell, I can’t even remember the last time I thought about having any of those things.
Hmmm. That’s strange.
For me, that’s like a vegetarian giving up vegetables. Those foods were my way of life. My very existence. It was a part of me… and, er, I guess it’s still a part of me until I lose these next sixty pounds. Anyway, it’s strange to give it all up so easily.
And as a matter of fact, I kinda want some steamed broccoli right about now. Or maybe a cool cucumber. Or maybe even a warm plate of deep green Brussels sprouts. Mmmm!
Ack!
Mr. Beer Belly is morphing into Mr. Veggie Belly!
I can’t let that happen because I’d have to change all the graphics on this site!
I’d better end this now and open an emergency can of tuna I keep around for such dieting emergencies. It isn’t steak but it beats reaching for pizza, Big Macs or beer.
Cheers!

Great pic! Don’t let the stalls get to you. They will happen, and some of them could be long; nevertheless, you will pull out of it and lose again. You’re doing great!

Mr. Beer Belly,
I just came across your blog and have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your Phase 1 adventures. Today’s photo is priceless, really explains how your feeling. I am in Phase 1 also, today is day 8. I too would love to keep losing 1lb a day, but come guy we both know that isn’t gonna happen, LOL!
Look forward to your next post, don’t get discouraged, the pounds will come off.

MBB,
I also just landed on your site for the first time. Kudos to for taking on the accountability of sticking to your goal through this blog. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to persevere with long-term goals, especially when few people would actually know if you quit. Documenting your journey like you are should help a ton.
Congrats on recently breaking through your barrier. I’ll be keeping up on your progress. Good luck!

Hi Mr Beer Belly,
Greetings from Ireland, but I think you have that flag already. I have just stumbled across your blog and really enjoyed it.
Good Luck with your new lifestyle.
I too hope to start the South Beach Diet today and will keep a close eye on your progress!

Mr. Beer Belly, I know what you mean, on those days, when you are stuck and can’t loose any weight I get depressed and only feel like eating because well, what is the point, right? but it always helps dieting with someone else (both at home and at work) that way they can keep you in line!
